Sample Answer
Undoubtedly, solar energy is
becoming popular as household sources of energy around the globe. The reason
behind is, mainly it helps in conserving non-renewable sources like crude oil,
coal and others. Though numerous benefits are linked with solar energy usage,
yet several challenges are remaining to deal with.
There are various
reasons, which could be given in favour of why solar energy is so in demand. Being a renewable source it provides many advantages like energy independence,
assurance and availability, over non-renewable ones. By using solar energy, the
consumer's dependability on other utility companies goes down and resulting in
energy independence. Digging, pumping, extracting, or refining of this resource
is not required. Furthermore, there are neither harmful emissions nor pollution
generation connected with this. As it reduces air and water pollution along
with diminishing hazardous waste, so has a positive impact on our environment. These
are the benefits, which make solar energy the vital choice of many
house-owners.
As compare to the
disadvantages associated with solar energy, the advantages are more. This is
the economical source, so is a better substitute for traditional energy sources.
The harmful pollutants, which cause the greenhouse effect, are not produced
using solar energy. Additionally, it contributes to the environment, so
considered as the smart choice. As a matter of fact, with the application of
solar electricity, solar cooling, solar
lighting, and solar heating, the carbon footprint is lessened to a certain
extent. Though the list of advantages does not end here, yet discussion over
the disadvantages will be done in the subsequent paragraph.
Its disadvantages
come up to the surface when initial set-up for the solar energy panel becomes a
challenge because of the non-availability of proficient technicians. In the
beginning, being an expensive system it falls heavy on the pocket. Though it is
a one-time investment, which would later bring pocket-friendly bills, yet
appears quite unaffordable. But the most disappointment creeps in when its
efficiency gets affected in the absence of substantial sunlight. So the
countries or places where sunrays supply is short for a specific duration,
there it proves as an ineffectual option.
In brief, solar
energy is the best alternative because it provides energy independence,
reliability, and security. Moreover, if challenges could be tackled
efficiently, it would be the best invention of the 21st century, in human
history.
